The newest work is about sea level rise, a threat to my home on the Georgia coast. It is continuation of work I was doing in the 1990's when I cut out photographs and added other images behind and in front of architectural elements. Now I can use Photoshop to do the same thing. My choice of subject matter has been wide-ranging but I have consistently returned to the coast, especially the undeveloped islands, for inspiration and imagery. For me coastal wilderness is a sanctuary, a place of consolation where humans are only visitors, where, in Thoreau’s words “ All good things are wild and free.
